Living, Computer and Dining Rooms

The the living room shown below (from the Find Ned game) is only a fraction of the width of the one shown in the floor plan, unless that is the world's largest sofa.  I've used the floor plan size when building my Pattermanse.
My interpretation:
As with the rec room, it's very difficult to capture the mess, both because of the Sims 3 grid layout (yes, I know about moveobjectson, but it's more the lack of objects representing messes).

A look at the length of my version of the living room:

I just noticed that I left out an arm chair which, according to the floor plan, should be in the corner where the decorative throw pillows are resting.
There was some discussion at the Foobiverse about whether or not the long rectangle shown on the floor plan was a TV or a bookcase.  I've opted for TV since it seems more likely that they had more than one. Probably not as nice as this one, but there you go.  Come to think of it, perhaps this long rectangle represented John's $2,000 stereo from 1979!  I don't know where else it might be in the house.

This is a view of the fireplace with pictures of one boy and two girls to represent the Patterson children.  The door next to the fireplace leads to the computer room and the archway into the kitchen.

I could have pushed the fireplace back against the wall so only the mantelpiece stuck out into the living room, except that that made the chimney thrust into the computer room.  The computer room was much smaller than the living room so I didn't want to sacrifice that much space just to make the fireplace flat against the living room wall, and also because Lynn's own drawing of the computer room:
seems to suggest that the chimney is either in the living room or completely non-existent.  Here's my view of the computer room:
Speaking as someone who uses computers, this is the stupidest place in the house to put one.  The glare on the monitor from all the windows would render the computer practically useless, not to mention the heat of the conservatory and how that would affect the computer and whoever was using it.  Nevertheless, the strip creator has made amply clear that she is not a fan of computers, then demonstrated it by placing it in this room rather than create a study elsewhere.  Why did Elly never learn to use a computer?  Perhaps she just couldn't see what she was doing and it was too hot to sit in the conservatory for any length of time.

Above is another look at the computer room, with swinging doors into the dining room.  The floor plan seemed to indicate two doors and I went for the old west look.

Here's the dining room from the Find Ned game:

Here's my take:

Yup, that one was pretty easy.  This being the Sims, I had to make sure there was enough room for them to move around the table, so it probably is larger than on the floor plan, particularly to accommodate the doors into the computer room and into the kitchen.  There's also a drinks trolley in the corner, which is there only to mask where some of the garden alongside the house was poking through.
