The Pattermanse

Occupied: No
Type: Residential
Lot Size: 64 x 64
Residents: 0
The Pattersons in the For Better or For Worse comic strip might have complained a lot about money, but perhaps that was due to the upkeep on their mansion. From the creator's own floor plans, a split-level home with five bedrooms (two with en suite; master bedroom also has walk-in closet), five bathrooms, kitchen / breakfast room plus separate dining room, rec & living rooms, laundry room, workshop, computer room / convervatory, double garage, massive garden, crawl space, & 1 extra room for improving skills.

The Pattermanse is the Foobiverse's name for the massive house owned by the Patterson family.    And it is massive.  I've used the 64x64 lot in the Hidden Springs world, although it would have fit onto a 40x40.  I just don't fancy rebuilding it for a third time, and this 64x64 gives the Sims a huge lawn if they want a pool, a garden and a lot of outdoor games.  I used up the back of the lot to add a creek with the potential to flood.  There's even a gate right near it where a small child could easily follow the path down to the water.  No Farley grave, however, but maybe once Pets comes out in October we'll be able to have pet cemeteries.

I followed Lynn Johnston's own floor plan:

and colour scheme:
as closely as possible, but with necessary adjustments to accommodate for the way Sims 3 works.  For example, there isn't currently a way to put glass panelling on the roof of the conservatory / computer room at the rear, so it just has a standard roof.

Other adjustments had to be made to try to figure out the exact layout of the house as, despite there being a floor plan, it didn't include things like stairs to the upper storey or clear details as to whether or not the rec room was a sunken room, on the ground floor or in the basement.  Fortunately, I had a lot of excellent help where sharp-eyed readers found strips and other drawings to help put together the house as closely as possible to what was in the strip.
